OSNAS hosts annual blood drive events inside the building for the community several times a year. There is always an outpouring of support from donators, especially during times when donated blood is in great demand. Students 16 and 17 years of age are able to donate with parental consent and students who are 18 and older may donate blood at each opportunity throughout the year. Paul Licausi is the school coordinator for each blood drive:
“Our Savior New American School is so happy to come together as a family and help spread the word about each blood drive that we host. In tandem with Long Island Blood Services, our Senior class facilitates emailing and calling past donors in order to garner as much of a response as possible. Now, more than ever, donations are vital as blood shortages become a real threat to those who depend on transfusions and treatments. We are thrilled to have met our goal at this past week’s blood drive and hope to continue to grow our operation. I give special commendations to the Senior class, as their excitement and hard work was reflected in the droves of donors that braved the cold and started their weekend in a donation bed, all to help others and glorify God! The donations received this past week will help almost 100 people in need. If you have any questions regarding blood donation, or if you would like to donate at our next drive, please email me at Paul.Licausi@osnas.org. Thank you to all who showed up, spread the word and kept our blood drive in your prayers.”-Paul Licausi, Dean of Students
