With obstacles comes change, strength, and sometimes even inspiration. When faced with the challenges of running classrooms from a distance, Our Savior New American School thought first of what this would be like for the students and students’ families. With an attempt for teachers to bring lessons to each student in a way that would be educational, digestible and relatable, the OSNAS family came together in support of one another. Classes were held online, so that students were able to meet face-to-face with their teachers and classmates. A schedule was maintained in order to continue a routine for both educators and learners. Teachers started streams dedicated to sharing resources, information and tactics. Students started group chats in order to study together, help one another, encourage each other. Then, something beautiful came from the obstacles that were being faced…
True to the spirit of OSNAS being a family Christian school, 3rd and 4th grade teacher Mrs. Jacquelin Arns had an idea to start an inspirational collage to send to every student. In the first weeks of the, “Stay at home” order, here is the video message that came from having a heart and spirit open to God:
The video was shared and commented on by OSNAS’s student body, and the students had something more to say on the matter. Committed to going that extra step, spreading some joy in a time of change, OSNAS students band together to come up with a response video:
The video wasn’t an assignment for students, in fact, many teachers received the response without knowing that their students were preparing their video! A situation that struck many with hardship and worry brought blessings in the form of a memory that will last forever. Following a positive path, having a heart for Jesus, staying strong, helping our brothers and sisters….a few more examples of a shining light in a time of strife that Our Savior New American School was not expecting.
