On Monday, September 28, OSNAS hosted its annual Spiritual Life Day. Each year, OSNAS sets aside one day wholly dedicated to spiritual growth. The school invites guest speakers, praises God in worship, facilitates small group discussions about biblical topics and offers students a free Chick-fil-A lunch!Â
Â
This year, the theme of the day was Jesus’ command to “Love your neighbor as yourself.” We invited leaders from four different mission outreaches on Long Island to talk about how they were carrying out this command. Among the organizations present were Lighthouse Mission, Mercy House, Soundview Pregnancy Services and our very own Our Savior Church Food Bank.Â
Â
Not only did the students of OSNAS get the chance to learn about these service organizations, they also had the opportunity to participate in the mission by bringing in supplies and brainstorming ideas on how our school could help these organizations further.Â
Â
This November, our school will be sending out student volunteers on different mission trips on Long Island. These students will be going to Lighthouse Mission to gain first hand experience of serving people in need. OSNAS is a private Christian school that teaches young people the importance of not just receiving Christ’s love, but sharing it with others. May the Lord bless our efforts to be a blessing to others as we strive to love our neighbors as ourselves.
More information is to come but in the mean time, please feel free to check out the websites of our four service organizations.
