For many years, the OSNAS gymnasium has seen plenty of use by both the school and outside organizations. Last week during the school’s annual winter break from February 21st-25th, the Our Savior Basketball Family hosted day long camps for school age kids around the community. Young and beginning basketball aficionados enjoy the morning session while advanced players trained in the afternoon camp. The gym had a record 95 campers attend the Monday morning session. Principal Wil Stelzer worked with kids throughout the week along with Kelly Martin and Alicia Indence , both teachers at the school. Several students from OSNAS volunteered their time to help the younger group, including Norah Williams and Abraham Masembe.
Every camp long or short has a theme and last week’s theme was centered around family – God is the father and all of us are his children. Luke 15:11-32 is the story of the Prodigal Son, which was one of the many verses talked about during the week.
OSNAS student’s usually benefit from a half-price discount for anyone who wants to join in the future. There is a 4th-8th grade intramural basketball league starting up very soon, which will meet on Monday and Friday for practice and scrimmages.
Whether you attend the OSNAS or not, basketball workouts are open to all kids in the community. For more information about signing up to a future event please visit the Basketball Camps page or call the front desk at 631-588-2757.
