On Saturday, May 20th, OSNAS was blessed to host a Spring Banquet with Pete Hegseth as the honorary speaker. Pete presented The Problem with Education in America and what he believed is the answer to this problem, namely, Classical Christian Education. At this catered event, over 200 guests pledged their support for Our Savior New American School while learning about the differences between general education and classical education.
Principal Wil Stelzer shared an impactful message on how education is not primarily a matter of training the mind but of cultivating the heart. The 3rd-grade students recited a catechism, a classical poem called The Spacious Firmament on High, Proverbs 3:5-14, and the Gettysburg Address for over 5 minutes. Finally, the 5th-6th grade class enacted a dramatic representation of what it means to be drawn to the evils of this world and how Jesus shields us against all these evils with His sacrificial love.
The event showcased a profound blend of historical knowledge, educational philosophy, and impressive student performances, inspiring those in attendance to support the mission of OSNAS to glorify God by helping students fulfill their potential in heart, mind, body and spirit, in a nurturing, Christ-centered environment.Â
