OSNAS is looking for a teacher who can teach Science and Bible as well as help coach Soccer. In addition this person would potentially lead the STEM club for interested students. The requirements for the position are as follows:
Why does STEM matter? Advances in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math have allowed us to gain a better understanding of our world and how it works. Discoveries in these areas often lead to life-changing inventions as well as improvements in medicine, communication, and other important areas. Nationwide, STEM jobs are on the rise and the number of qualified workers in these fields is not enough to meet the demand. Most importantly, STEM gives us a better appreciation for the orderliness and faithfulness of God who keeps the universe in a consistent, lawful state and allows us to make predictions based on laws that do not change, just like God!
For these reasons and more, we are proud to announce that the OSNAS has received a grant of $60,000 for the construction and furnishing of a new STEM room! The grant was generously provided by the Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF). Construction is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2020 and will be complete, Lord willing, by the beginning of the 2020-21 academic year. The school will use the grant to purchase new technology, scientific instruments, fresh curriculum, classroom furniture and more. Students will be able to use these resources to gain a richer understanding of God’s world in a comfortable environment that is conducive to scientific exploration.
With such a room in place, OSNAS students will have an open door for new opportunities and experiences. Next year the school will be offering after-school STEM clubs for students, both young and old. Jackie Arns, who was instrumental in writing the grant along with Barbara Lindemann, will run the club for elementary students. Duncan Kasibante, biochemist and graduate of OSNAS, is making plans to head up the club for middle and high school students. We anticipate that the STEM room will generate excitement in both boys and girls for years to come, inspiring them to ask good questions and discover new possibilities. OSNAS is thrilled to contribute to forming the next generation of innovators. We look forward to seeing how the Lord will use this room for His glory. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
