Army Soldier Returns to OSNAS

Specialist SPC Welty (formerly OSNAS Bible and Computer teacher Mr. Bobby Welty) paid a surprise visit to the students of OSNAS on Thursday, October 10th. Mr. Welty served at OSNAS for 10 years before leaving to join the Army in the Spring. He successfully completed his basic training and is now serving at Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg) in North Carolina. Mr. Welty left an imprint on his students through his calm and steady demeanor and genuine love for the Lord. The students were able to ask him questions about his experience in the Army while he donned his uniform and army tag with the label “Christian” etched upon it. It is a reminder that Christ fought for his freedom as Mr. Welty now does for us.

OSNAS Updates:

1. Thank you to those who donated items for needy families in our community. Please continue to donate as the students will be putting together care packages for Spiritual Life Day on Friday.
2. We welcome families to participate in the festivities of Spirit Week:
   • Pep Rally on Friday at 2PM
   • Homecoming Parade on Saturday at 9AM
   • Homecoming Festival for grades pre-K-6 on Saturday from 1-3PM
   • Homecoming Celebration for grades 7-12 on Saturday from 7-9:30PM
3. Grades K-6 will be going on a field trip to Harbes Farm in Mattituck on Monday, October 28th from 8:30AM-2:30PM. The kids will be treated to pumpkins, pig races, hay rides, farm animals and more. Please fill out the permission slip that the students are bringing home today and hand in by Tuesday of next week. Parents are invited to come on your own if you would like.
4. Grandparents’ Day in on Wednesday, October 23. Grandparents of students in grades pre-K to 8 are invited to attend a special program by the students at 10AM.
