Obeying God Over Men

Dear OSNAS Family,

Welcome back! I hope you had a blessed Spring break.

We all have to choose who our ultimate authority in life is. Is it our friends, our parents, our culture, our government, or ourselves? The problem with these authorities is that they are made up of fallible, sinful human beings. They may have a degree of power, but as Jesus said to Pilate, “you would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above.”

If God is our ultimate authority, we will not be ashamed or disappointed on Judgment Day. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were willing to be thrown into the fiery furnace rather than put someone before God. As we see from this account, the faithful are always vindicated in the end. May we be faithful unto death and receive the crown of eternal life that God has in store for us.

Upcoming Events:

  1. This Thursday is National Day of Prayer. Our nation needs prayer and we will be gathering at our flagpole. All parents are invited to join us at 8:15AM. Our nation rose to be great because of our reliance on God. Our early founders and presidents recognized the need to pray and frequently proclaimed days of prayer. Even Thomas Jefferson, who some falsely call an atheist or deist recommended “a day of public and solemn Thanksgiving to Almighty God for his mercies, and of prayer.” In this same Proclamation issued December 9th, 1779 as governor of Virginia, Jefferson stated that we should be grateful to God above all, that He hath diffused the glorious light of the Gospel, whereby, through the merits of our gracious Redeemer, we may become heirs of His eternal glory. This is just one example of our nation’s Christian heritage. Let us pray and rely on the true God once again so that our nation may be healed.
  2. Friday is our trip to Sight and Sound in Lancaster, PA to see Daniel. Everyone going should be at the school at 7AM. Students in grades 3-8 who are not going on the trip should stay home on that day. All other grades will be expected in school to avoid an unexcused absence.
  3. Next year’s calendar events are available on the website.

May the Lord bless and keep you.
