OSNAS School Founder Honored for 40 Years of Service to the Church
Forty years. Two score. Four decades. No matter how you say it, it’s a long time, especially when it comes to a pastor serving a single congregation. One week ago, Pastor Stelzer was honored by his congregation with a surprise BBQ for his 40 years of faithful service. As a son, I am proud of the perseverance and grit that my dad has shown through the years, giving us all an example of of the steadfastness of our Heavenly Father.
Eight years after coming to New York to be the pastor of Our Savior Lutheran Church, and after witnessing the anti-biblical, anti-God agenda of our government schools, Pastor Stelzer decided to start Our Savior New American School with founding principal Dolores Reade, $5,000 in the school’s bank, and plenty of naysayers and doubters. By God’s grace, OSNAS is still serving God’s children 32 years later. After all these years, Pastor Stelzer still volunteers his time teaching Middle School Latin and sharing chapel messages on Wednesdays. As for the impact that he has had on others, heaven alone can only tell.
OSNAS Updates:
- Thursday at 7:00PM is Back to School Night. This is a time for parents to come and meet your child’s teachers, see what they are learning, and better grasp how you can help them throughout the year. God has given the primary responsibility of a child’s education to the parents, and we want to serve you by providing a transparent window into the education of OSNAS. We will start at 7PM in the sanctuary where you will be given a schedule for visiting your child’s classroom(s).
- If you would like your child to participate in an after-school club (Piano, Homework, Chess, STEM, Drama, Apologetics, K-6 Soccer), and have not yet signed them up, you must do this by filling out this Google Form. Some clubs are starting this week!
- Last Monday was the first Parent Teacher Connection (PTC) Meeting. If you missed the meeting, but would like to be part of a group of OSNAS parents who help plan events for the school, you can email jackie.gabrielle@osnas.org or come to the Back to School Night for more information.
