6000 Years of History in 1 Hour

The Roman historian Livy wrote, “The study of history is the best medicine for a sick mind; for in history you have a record of the infinite variety of human experience plainly set out for all to see: and in that record you can find for yourself and your country both examples and warnings: fine things to take as models, base things, rotten through and through, to avoid.”

Those who know their history know the reason for the present and can make educated guesses about the future. Knowing history is akin to paying attention to the wisdom of parents and grandparents. It allows you to live many lives and make informed decisions.

The K-6 grade students of OSNAS blessed the school with a 6000 year historical review from Creation to present day. Each grade recited a portion of a historical speech from people like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther and Martin Luther King. Each grade then sang a song recounting 32 significant events from the era they were studying. Seeing the kids in costume alone made the event well worth it. The livestream did not work at the start of the program but you can catch the majority of the service on the school’s facebook page by clicking here.
