Basketball Season

Our mission at OSNAS is…Glorify God by helping students fulfill their potential in heart, mind, body and spirit in a nurturing, Christ-centered environment. When God made the first human, he formed him from the dust of the earth and then breathed into him the breath of life. From this event, we see that we have a physical side to us as well as an immaterial side. Our bodies come from God, and our immaterial aspect–heart, spirit and mind also come from God. A complete and healthy education will not neglect any of these aspects. We are not simply minds on a stick; we have bodies that need exercise. We were not created for isolation; we were created to relate with others and learn in community. Sports is one of those things God uses to build our character as well as our bodies. We should no sooner give up sports and exercise if we find it difficult than we should give up studying.

Speaking of athletics, the basketball season for girls and boys in grades 9-12 starts today with the first practice. As long as students in grades 7-8 pass a physical fitness test, they can join as well. Students in grades 1-6 are invited to participate in the OSNAS Basketball League that I will be running in December and January. Whether you are a seasoned athlete or just starting out, all are welcome to join. Click here for more information.

OSNAS Updates:

  1. Parents of students in grades K-4 are invited to join us for our annual Thanksgiving Feast on Tuesday, November 25th from 11:00AM-12:00PM. For this to happen, we ask parents to bring in a pre-cooked food item for this feast in the morning or a little before 11:00AM. Please see the flyer below for what your child is asked to provide to make this feast a success.
  2. 1st Quarter Report Cards went out today. It is helpful to communicate a consistent message with respect to grades. God is most concerned with our attitude and effort. The student who does his or her best and gets a low grade is more pleasing to Him than the student who puts in little effort, has a poor attitude, and scores highly (1 Samuel 16:7).
  3. Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are due this Friday if you would like to participate in that.
  4. Jesus Never Stops Day is this Friday.

May the Lord bless and keep you!
