Come Let Us Reason Together…
God encourages his people to reason with Him (Isaiah 1:18), love Him with all of our mind (Matthew 22:37), and to be ready to give the reason for the hope that we have (1 Peter 3:15). All these verses encourage us to use logic to better know, love and share God with others. Unfortunately, the study of Logic has been ignored in most schools today. Schools teach kids what to think (information), but rarely teach them how to think (discernment).
Logic is a characteristic feature of a classical Christian education. We want kids who don’t mindlessly consume information, but question assumptions and who are able to defend their beliefs. This is what you see happening in the photo above. The students in Mr. Kasibante’s Bible class offered arguments either defending or refuting claims like, “Does God change His mind.” Both sides used Scripture to support their arguments. Both sides learned to think by considering the topic from multiple perspectives. The end goal is a wise and eloquent person, ready to serve God.
OSNAS Updates:
- Wednesday is our annual Science Bowl. Come witness students in grades 7-12 compete to see who can describe and identify the most scientific terms in the time allotted. Think of the game Heads Up.
- Just as in the Fall, Coach Kurtis Seaton will be leading a Fellowship Soccer League. Students who sign up will receive a combination of 12 training sessions and games against some other Christian schools. The sessions will be on Fridays after school (starting this Friday). The cost is $180 and you can sign up here.
- Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the Journey to Calvary Play on Thursday, March 26th at 7:15PM. Students in grades 7-12 should come to the chapel to get into their costumes between 6:30 and 6:45PM.
May the Lord bless and keep you!
