Give Thanks In All Circumstances

The history of Thanksgiving goes all the way back to our first New England settlement at Plymouth, Massachusetts. Our current 10th grade class traveled to this place last year to better appreciate our nation’s Christian heritage. The Pilgrims that stepped off the Mayflower boldly risked their lives so that their families could freely worship God. It was no cruise in the Bahamas traveling across the Atlantic and then trying to withstand a New England winter. Half of the people died that first year. Thankfully, God provided the Pilgrims with kind Indians who showed them how to plant corn, gather berries, and survive in this New World. By harvest time, the Pilgrims had enough food to face the upcoming winter. As a result, they held a feast with the Indians thanking God for his abundant provision. From this we see that Thanksgiving is not primarily about football and turkeys; it’s about giving thanks to God. May we never forget this and ensure that our families are focusing on who matters most.

OSNAS Update:

  1. In the Thanksgiving spirit, there will be a church service here on Thursday, November 27th at 10:00AM. If you do not have a place to gather and give thanks on that day, we invite you to come to Our Savior. In particular, I have much to be thankful for as my daughter Lainey is getting baptized on that day.
  2. All parents in grades K-4 are welcome to join us for our annual Thanksgiving Festival on Tuesday from 11:00-12:00PM. Please see the flyer below for what we are asking you to provide for this festival to be a success. Parents who are able to help setup should come at 10:15AM.
  3. The OSNAS Basketball League for students in grades 1-6 begins next week, Click here to sign up.
