OSNAS 9th Grade Class Visits Philadelphia
Each year the 9th grade U.S. History class visits a site of great historical significance. Previous years include Boston and Washington D.C. This year, in celebration of our nation’s 250th anniversary, we went to the place where it all started—Philadelphia.
The students got to stand where our founding fathers stood in Independence Hall as they drafted the declaration in 1776 and the the U.S. Constitution in 1787. We visited the houses of Betsy Ross and Ben Franklin, saw the Liberty Bell, went to Christ Church and sat in George Washington’s pew, took a stroll down Elfreth Alley, explored the Museum of the American Revolution, and of course, dashed up the “Rocky Stairs”. On the way home, the students walked the hallowed grounds of Valley Forge and gained a better appreciation of the sacrifices that our predecessors made.
Each morning and night, we had a devotional time reading God’s Word and praying together. Next year, we are anticipating another blessed trip as our rising 9th grade class visits historic Virginia!
