Unless the Lord Builds a House…
How did our Founding Fathers come together to form the Constitution? Most people do not know how difficult it was to get 13 colonies to agree on the form of government that contains the liberties we enjoy. After several days of heated arguments, even George Washington lamented his involvement in the Constitutional Convention of 1787. But then something happened. Benjamin Franklin got up and gave a speech in which he referenced this week’s Bible verse, changing the focus of those present and influencing the course of this nation. Listen to the Biblical Thought of the Week (linked below) or better yet, read Franklin’s speech for yourself to find out exactly what he said.
OSNAS Updates:
- Spirit Week is next week! Please click here for guidelines on dress-up days and donation items that we will be collecting to assist our military veterans.
- On Friday of Spirit Week (10/17), we will have a Pep Rally. Parents are invited to attend from 1:55-3:00PM. We will parade around the school before going into the gym where the younger grades (K-4) will show off their dances and sports teams will be introduced.
- On Saturday of Spirit Week (10/18), grades K-6 and parents are invited to participate in the Homecoming Festival (see flyer below). There will be Alumni games in the afternoon (soccer at 1PM and volleyball at 3PM). At night, grades 7-12 are invited to Homecoming Dance from 7-10PM (see flyer below). At this dance we will have a Christian DJ and we will seek to glorify God in all that we do. Students must abide by the dress and conduct guidelines in order to attend. Parents please look over these guidelines with your child and check them before they leave the house. Any student out of compliance will not be able to enter and we would like to avoid this. Any questions please direct to Dean Licausi at paul.licausi@osnas.org.
- Progress Reports are scheduled to go out this week. These are grades that are given out halfway through the marking period so parents can have a snapshot of how their child is doing in various subjects and skills. Grades K-4 will be given a letter grade (E – Excellent, G – Good, S – Satisfactory and NI – Needs Improvement) while grades 5-12 will have numerical grades.
- There is a PTC Meeting tonight at 7:00PM to help plan the Homecoming festivities. You can also click on this link to volunteer in some helpful way.
- No School on Friday this week for Professional Development and Monday next week for Columbus Day.
