Visit to Hobbs Farm

Hobbs Farm on Oxhead Road in Centereach has been around for over a century. After falling into disuse, a woman named Anne asked the church who currently owns the land if she could revitalize it. Her intention was to have a farm that grew healthy food free from chemicals and give it to people in need. Today, the food goes out to over a dozen food pantries. Our students had the privilege of meeting Anne and taking part in this ministry. The 7th and 8th grade Science class went to the farm last Friday to not only learn about the history, but understand how vegetables are best grown, and to lend a helping hand. The students harvested a great crop of sweet potatoes from the earth, gathering the biggest sweet potatoes that they had ever seen!
