What Company Do You Keep?
Bad company corrupts good character. Who we associate with will have an indelible impact on who we become. This not only applies to our company of friends, but also our circle of teachers, mentors and coaches. Jesus said, “Everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher” (Luke 6:40). We should not deceive ourselves to think that we can spend ample time with people of bad character and not begin to imitate them. It is therefore imperative that we and our children are nurtured in an environment that is focused on Christ. When we are surrounded by the Word of God and repentant, God-fearing Christians, we start to look more like God and less like the world.
