Where Will You Spend Eternity?

There are only two possible destinations when our life is over: heaven or hell. Not many pastors spend a lot of time talking about hell, but Jesus certainly had a lot to say about it. From Him we learn that it is a place of torment, fire, darkness, weeping and teeth-gnashing where the devil, his demons and the unfaithful will spend all eternity. Many schools warn their students about the dangers of bad choices regarding drugs, alcohol, violence, and laziness. A select few warn their students about the eternal danger of rejecting God’s salvation. We should take our cues not from the world but from Jesus. This means that we should tell people plainly that hell is the end destination for the unrepentant and unfaithful. When they see the need for help, we will also tell them that Jesus went through hell on the cross so that we could attain heaven as a free gift when we trust in Him as our Savior.
